Cenote Hoyo Azul

Hoyo Azul is one of the island's most breathtaking cenotes and a primary tourist attraction in Punta Cana.

While the turquoise blue of Punta Cana's beaches is often highlighted, the most distinctive water on the island is found in Hoyo Azul, a crystal-clear, fresh water well located at the base of a unique cliff.

The lagoon part has a maximum depth of 14 meters, with a drop reaching 75 meters from where the vegetation begins. One reason to visit Hoyo Azul is the opportunity to swim in the freshwater lagoon and enjoy the experience of bathing in one of the world's most remarkable locations.  

Cenote Hoyo Azul is located about 40 minutes from Playa Bávaro and offers easy access. It is advisable to book the tour in advance, as it is one of Punta Cana's most popular attractions. 

The area surrounding Hoyo Azul also offers other activities. In the cenote itself, you can explore its underwater caves, stroll through its geological formations, and learn about the flora and fauna of its surrounding landscapes.

Ojos Indígenas

The natural reserve known as Ojos Indígenas is another must-see attraction. It houses the cenote known as Laguna de Punta Cana, providing a unique landscape and the opportunity to dive in crystal-clear waters. 

Ojos Indígenas is a natural reserve with educational and scientific purposes. This part of Punta Cana features subtropical forests with both humid species and those typical of drier regions. With over 500 plant species, many endemic to the Dominican Republic, and the presence of several eyes, or lagoons, Ojos Indígenas is among the most visited areas in the Dominican Republic.

Another attraction at Ojos Indígenas is the chance to swim with hicoteas, or freshwater turtles.    

Hoyo Claro

Hoyo Claro is another cenote you should not miss in Punta Cana. Set within a semi-humid forest, this lagoon is not as deep as Hoyo Azul because it lacks a multi-meter drop, but its waters are truly spectacular.

This cenote is very close to Juanillo Beach, one of the most beautiful spots along the Punta Cana coast. Besides the cenote, you can also explore the natural surroundings of Hoyo Claro and, of course, the unforgettable beaches that encircle it.  

Las Ondas

The Las Ondas cenote is another must-visit area, owing to the shape of the cave that shelters it. In truth, the Las Ondas area contains several cenotes due to the presence of freshwater springs beneath its surface, resulting in rock and water formations as spectacular as those found at the Las Ondas cenote.

The waters are safeguarded by a geological roof, pierced only by a small opening that barely lets in sunlight. This natural spa allows for swimming in fresh waters within an underground cave, surrounded by subtropical forests.
