Punta Cana among top global tourism hotspots in 2021

More travelers than ever are looking to holiday in Punta Cana in 2021, it has been revealed.

Punta Cana is among the world’s top five searched-for holiday destinations for 2021, according to top tourism publication, Condé Nast Traveler.

Following the COVID-19 pandemic it is little surprise that the priority for travelers this year is “seclusion, sun, and sand” – and Punta Cana has them all!

The data comes from the 2021 Travel Trends report from leading travel website, Expedia. It follows a separate report showing that the Dominican Republic is a leader in the Caribbean and Central America sector, attracting one in six (17%) of all visitors during 2019.

Magaly Toribio, Marketing Advisor for the Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism, says, "The Dominican Republic continues to take some of the most stringent safety precautions in the Caribbean during the COVID-19 pandemic. Travelers looking for a safe getaway will find it on the shores of Punta Cana and throughout the rest of the country."

Since summer of 2020, when the Dominican Republic opened its airports, the country attracted more than one million tourists. As COVID restrictions begin in ease during 2021, DR is looking to capitalise on the surge in online interest from vacationers.

American Airlines has just reaffirmed its commitment to the Dominican Republic, by announcing more flights from April. In January, new Bulgarian airline, GullivAir, flew into Punta Cana for the first time commencing weekly flights.

Punta Cana is country’s number one tourism destination thanks to almost 30 miles of coast, top-class entertainment and attractions and championship golf courses. It is also well-connected, thanks to its international airport. During a typical year, almost 8 million passengers use Punta Cana International Airport – two-thirds of all Dominican Republic tourists.

Luxury resort real estate specialist, Noval Properties offers a choice of lifestyle and investment properties in Punta Cana. Business Development head for Noval Properties, Barbara Warren, says, “Punta Cana is a great place to kick back and relax. You can find all the comforts of modern life near the beach.

“With average temperatures of 28deg C, beautiful beaches with powder-white sand, 10 top golf courses and plenty of space for seclusion and privacy, Punta Cana is the top location in the heart of the Caribbean.

“Quality real estate is competitively priced. For instance, the entry point at the new Reserva Real community at Cocotal Golf & Country Club starting is just $199,000 – and that is for furnished, two-bedroom apartments, making it appealing for retirees, holiday home owners and investors.”
